The Marble City Bar, on High Street, Kilkenny City and its adjoining Tea Rooms on Kieran Street is one of the oldest public houses in the County, and has retained many of the original features. A favourite with locals and visitors alike, the Marble City Bar exudes a warm and friendly atmosphere and offers extensive menus boasting the very best in fresh local and Irish produce and service.

Downstairs and situated on the bustling pedestrianised Kieran Street are the Marble City Tea Rooms. An ideal meeting spot with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, it is the perfect setting in which to experience a varied selection of international coffees and teas, cakes and pastries along with a full and comprehensive menu.

An evening in Delaney’s in Tullahought is as authentic an Irish pub experience as your likely to get. Drinks are served over the old shop counter and there are still many remnants of its days as a general store. It only opens at 9.00pm and, most reliably, from Thursday to Sunday. It is famed for its music nights which are held in the back room which is adorned by an array of exotic musical instruments. Local talent abounds and you never know who might just be passing and pop in for a song.

Tim’s Bar and Beer Garden is located on the Quay in Thomastown. It’s friendly and attentive staff serve a fine selection of beers. During the summer months there are regular  barbecues in the large garden at the rear of the premises where you’ll even be given blankets when it turns chilly. Lanigan's Bar & Restaurant is a family run Traditional Irish Bar which boasts the largest LCD video wall in Ireland; ideal for sporting events. The Bridge Brook Arms is a beautiful, old traditional pub overlooking the river. It has a large covered outdoor area with plenty of seating. With a history dating back to 1263, Kytelers Inn, in the heart of the Mediaeval City of Kilkenny, combines a rich heritage with 21st century amenities and service.

It is recommended by many of the Best Food Guides for serving good food all day. Traditional Irish Music sessions kick off at 9.30 on Tuesday and Thursday nights during the Summer. There is also a terraced seating available on a pedestrianised street if you just want to watch the world go by. Wi-Fi access is available all day and there’s easy parking in the Market Yard car park which is free if you arrive after 6.00 pm.

Outback there is a dedicated live music room, and a funky beer garden furnished with rescued sofas and homemade tables, like a beach bar in the middle of the city.
